Use them.
Ship them.
Gaitkit specimens are made to end up inside your work. This page says what you can do with them in plain words; the numbered sections are the licence itself.
You can
- Put specimens in games, apps, films, renders, XR, websites and client projects
- Sell those projects, commercially, with no royalty
- Change them: knobs, code, meshes, colours, anything
- Leave out the credit line (a mention is welcome, never required)
- Let your AI agent fetch and place them for you
You can't
- Resell or give away the specimens as assets, alone or in a pack, changed or not
- Let your own users browse, tune or download them inside your product without a Platform licence
- Use them to train or improve a model that generates 3D assets, or to clone our pipeline
- Claim you made them, or register them as trademarks
01What this covers
This licence covers every asset ("specimen") in the Gaitkit catalogue: its source module, its knob schema, and every file built from it (GLB, OBJ, FBX, USDZ, renders, baked animation clips), whether you got it from the website, the CDN, the REST API or an agent tool. It is granted by Ümit, trading as Gaitkit ("Gaitkit", "we").
The runtime files (runtime/kit.mjs, runtime/walk.mjs and friends) that specimens import are covered by the same licence, and you may ship them inside your project like any specimen.
02What you may do
We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use, copy, modify and include specimens in your own end products, for personal or commercial purposes, without paying royalties and without credit.
An end product is something where the specimen is part of a larger work and is not the thing being sold or handed out: a game, an app, a website, a film or video, an XR experience, a printed or rendered image, a course or a client deliverable. Distributing the specimen inside a compiled or packaged end product (for example inside a game build or a web bundle) is fine, as long as people cannot easily pull it out to use it as an asset of their own.
You may make 3D prints and physical goods from specimens and sell them.
03What you may not do
- Redistribute specimens as assets. No selling, sharing or giving away specimens or their files on their own or in packs, templates, asset stores, libraries or repositories, modified or not. Open-source projects may include specimens they use, but not the catalogue or a large part of it.
- Serve them to your users. If people using your product can browse, tune, generate or download specimens (an editor, a game-maker, an AI app, a marketplace), you need a Platform licence.
- Train or clone. No using specimens, their code, their renders or the catalogue metadata to train, fine-tune or evaluate a model or service that generates 3D assets, and no copying our generation pipeline into a competing product. Using an AI agent to find and place specimens in your own project is welcome.
- Pretend you made them. No claiming authorship of an unmodified specimen, and no trademark or design registration on one.
- Unlawful or hateful use. No use in work that is illegal, defamatory, or that promotes hatred or violence against people.
04Free and paid specimens
The same licence applies to free and paid specimens. The difference is only how you get the files: free specimens can be downloaded by anyone, paid ones with a Pro, Founder or Studio plan.
Files you download while your plan is active stay licensed after it ends, for the projects you used them in. Starting new projects with them after your plan ends needs an active plan again. Loading paid specimens from our CDN with your personal token stops working when the plan ends; self-hosted copies keep working.
Studio plans license the specimens to the company, for use by its five named seats. Platform licences are agreed in writing and add to this page.
05AI agents and generated variants
Variants you make by turning knobs, by hand or through get_variant, are specimens under this licence. Specimens your agent fetches over MCP are licensed to you, the person the agent works for, exactly as if you had downloaded them.
Specimens forged on request through the describe box become part of the catalogue and fall under this licence too.
06No warranty
Specimens are provided "as is". We work hard to keep them correct, original and free of third-party marks, but we give no warranty that they fit a particular purpose. Our liability is limited as set out in the Terms.
If you believe a specimen looks too much like something you own, write to hello@gaitkit.com and we will look at it within five working days.
07Ending the licence
If you break this licence, it ends for the specimens involved, and you must stop distributing new copies of them. Copies already shipped inside finished end products before the breach may stay where they are. Everything else here survives as long as you follow it.
