Quad Drone
A half-metre camera quadcopter with four rotors on an X frame and landing legs. Flies by distance: rotors spin in counter-rotating pairs and the frame hovers with a slight bob; navigation lights glow at night.

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/quad-drone.mjs';
const quadDrone = createAsset();
scene.add(quadDrone); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
quadDrone.position.set(0, groundY + quadDrone.userData.altitude, dist);
quadDrone.userData.tick(dist); // wings beat with the distance
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber';

const dist = useRef(0);
useFrame((_, dt) => {
dist.current += speed * dt;

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
scheme | choice | white graphite safety neon | white | Colour scheme: white (consumer camera drone), graphite (dark grey, red trim), safety (orange inspection drone), neon (black racer with lime blades). |
camera | toggle | on / off | true | A gimbal camera hanging under the nose. Off = a bare frame. |
guards | toggle | on / off | false | Rings around every rotor, for indoor or close-to-people flying. |
parcel | toggle | on / off | false | A delivery box clipped under the belly between the legs. |
size | range | 0.4 to 3, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale. 1 is 0.5 m across the rotors; 0.4 is a palm-sized racer; 3 is a heavy-lift cargo drone. |
