Hot Air Balloon
A full-size hot air balloon about 24 m tall: a striped or patterned envelope over a wicker basket with a burner frame and fuel tanks. Drifts slowly, swaying gently while the burner flame pulses; the flame and the lit envelope mouth glow at night. It drifts 15 m up.

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/hot-air-balloon.mjs';
const hotAirBalloon = createAsset();
scene.add(hotAirBalloon); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
hotAirBalloon.position.set(0, groundY + hotAirBalloon.userData.altitude, dist);
hotAirBalloon.userData.tick(dist); // wings beat with the distance
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
pattern | choice | gores bands harlequin sunburst | gores | Envelope pattern: gores (classic vertical stripes), bands (horizontal rings), harlequin (checkered diamonds), sunburst (a coloured crown with rays running down). |
colors | choice | sunset sky meadow berry mono | sunset | Colour set: sunset (red, orange, yellow, cream), sky (blue, white, teal), meadow (green, cream, ochre), berry (plum, cream, orange, navy) or mono (charcoal and white with a red accent). |
gores | range | 10 to 24, step 2 | 16 | How many vertical panels make the envelope, 10 to 24. More gores look rounder and give thinner stripes. |
lit | toggle | on / off | true | Shows the burner flame roaring up into the envelope mouth. Off = burner idle, as when drifting or tethered. |
size | range | 0.5 to 1.4, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale. 1 is a four-person balloon about 24 m tall with a 17 m envelope; 0.5 is a small one-person hopper; 1.4 a big passenger balloon. |
Presets: sunrise festival {"pattern":"sunburst","colors":"sunset","gores":20} · harlequin {"pattern":"harlequin","colors":"berry","gores":16} · quiet drift {"pattern":"bands","colors":"sky","lit":false}
