Desert Scorpion
A giant desert scorpion, about 45 cm from pincer tips to tail (real ones are 8 to 12 cm; size 0.25 is life size). It walks on eight legs with its pincers held forward and its segmented tail curled over its back, stinger ready.

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/desert-scorpion.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
const desertScorpion = createAsset();
scene.add(desertScorpion); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
const gait = walker(desertScorpion, { ground: (x, z) => terrainHeight(x, z) }); // or omit ground for a flat floor
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
desertScorpion.position.z = dist;
gait.poseAt(dist); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber';
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/desert-scorpion.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
export function DesertScorpion({ speed = 1 }) {
const model = useMemo(() => createAsset(), []);
const gait = useMemo(() => walker(model), [model]);
const dist = useRef(0);
useFrame((_, dt) => {
dist.current += speed * dt;
model.position.z = dist.current;
gait.poseAt(dist.current); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
});
return <primitive object={model} />;
}# Import desert-scorpion.glb (download below). It carries an in-place "Walk" animation.
@onready var anim: AnimationPlayer = $DesertScorpion/AnimationPlayer
func _physics_process(delta):
velocity = transform.basis.z * speed
move_and_slide()
anim.play("Walk")
anim.speed_scale = speed / 0.175 # Walk clip covers 0.175 m/s at 1x// Import desert-scorpion.glb with glTFast (com.unity.cloud.gltfast).
animator.Play("Walk");
animator.speed = speed / 0.175 // Walk clip covers 0.175 m/s at 1xUse the gaitkit MCP server: get_variant({ "id": "desert-scorpion", "want": "default look" })
then place the result and walk it with walker() so the feet stay planted.

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
color | choice | sand black amber | sand | sand (pale desert yellow-brown), black (dark emperor-style scorpion with a red stinger), amber (orange-brown bark scorpion). |
tailCurl | range | 0.5 to 1.4, step 0.05 | 1 | How far the tail arches over the back. 0.5 = tail raised almost straight up, relaxed; 1 = classic curl with the stinger over the body; 1.4 = tight, aggressive strike pose. |
pincerSize | range | 0.6 to 1.8, step 0.05 | 1 | Scales the two front pincers. Below 0.8 reads as a thin-clawed, very venomous kind; above 1.4 is a heavy, crushing-claw kind. |
size | range | 0.25 to 3, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale. 1 is about 45 cm long including pincers; 0.25 is life size; 3 is a boss-sized monster. |
