Forest Centipede
A giant forest centipede, about 55 cm long (real ones are 3 to 10 cm), with a flat segmented body, one pair of walking legs per segment, long antennae and trailing hind legs. A leg wave ripples down each side as it walks; the segments knob changes the leg count (12 to 16).

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/forest-centipede.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
const forestCentipede = createAsset();
scene.add(forestCentipede); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
const gait = walker(forestCentipede, { ground: (x, z) => terrainHeight(x, z) }); // or omit ground for a flat floor
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
forestCentipede.position.z = dist;
gait.poseAt(dist); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber';
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/forest-centipede.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
export function ForestCentipede({ speed = 1 }) {
const model = useMemo(() => createAsset(), []);
const gait = useMemo(() => walker(model), [model]);
const dist = useRef(0);
useFrame((_, dt) => {
dist.current += speed * dt;
model.position.z = dist.current;
gait.poseAt(dist.current); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
});
return <primitive object={model} />;
}# Import forest-centipede.glb (download below). It carries an in-place "Walk" animation.
@onready var anim: AnimationPlayer = $ForestCentipede/AnimationPlayer
func _physics_process(delta):
velocity = transform.basis.z * speed
move_and_slide()
anim.play("Walk")
anim.speed_scale = speed / 0.1 # Walk clip covers 0.1 m/s at 1x// Import forest-centipede.glb with glTFast (com.unity.cloud.gltfast).
animator.Play("Walk");
animator.speed = speed / 0.1 // Walk clip covers 0.1 m/s at 1xUse the gaitkit MCP server: get_variant({ "id": "forest-centipede", "want": "default look" })
then place the result and walk it with walker() so the feet stay planted.

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
color | choice | rust olive cobalt | rust | rust (red-brown back, amber legs), olive (dark green-black back, yellow legs), cobalt (deep blue back, orange legs). |
segments | range | 6 to 8, step 1 | 7 | Number of leg-bearing body segments, one pair of walking legs each: 6 = 12 legs, 7 = 14 legs, 8 = 16 legs (longer body). |
antennae | range | 0.6 to 1.6, step 0.05 | 1 | Antenna length. 1.5 and up reads as a long-feelered cave centipede. |
size | range | 0.3 to 3, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale. 1 is about 55 cm long; 3 is a giant dungeon monster. |
