Dolphin
A 2.5 m bottlenose dolphin with a curved dorsal fin and horizontal tail flukes. Swims by distance like a real cetacean: the tail beats up and down while the body flexes, flippers steering; it cruises 1.5 m above the sea floor. Common, orca (6.5 m) and pink river dolphin variants.

Passed the validator: real scale, rests on y = 0, front faces +Z, deterministic.
Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.

let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
dolphin.position.set(0, groundY + dolphin.userData.altitude, dist);
dolphin.userData.tick(dist); // the body waves with the distance
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
species | choice | bottlenose common orca river | bottlenose | Body plan and colour: bottlenose (grey, short beak, 2.5 m), common (slender, dark back with a tan hourglass on the flank, long beak), orca (black and white killer whale, tall dorsal fin, 6.5 m), river (pink Amazon river dolphin, long thin beak, low hump instead of a fin). |
pace | choice | cruise sprint | cruise | cruise: slow relaxed tail beats. sprint: shorter, faster beats with a bigger body flex (chasing fish or racing a boat). |
smile | toggle | on / off | true | The upturned mouth line along the beak. Off = a plain closed mouth. |
size | range | 0.4 to 1.6, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale on top of the species length. 1 is adult size; 0.4 is a calf; 1.6 is a large old male. |
