Sea Turtle
A 1.1 m sea turtle with a scute-patterned shell, scaly head and long front flippers. Swims by distance: the front flippers sweep down and back in slow underwater wingbeats while the small hind flippers steer and the head bobs; it cruises 1 m above the sea floor.

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.

dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
seaTurtle.position.set(0, groundY + seaTurtle.userData.altitude, dist);
seaTurtle.userData.tick(dist); // the body waves with the distance
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
kind | choice | green loggerhead hawksbill leatherback | green | Species: green (olive-brown shell, grey-green skin), loggerhead (reddish shell, big head), hawksbill (amber-and-dark tortoiseshell streaks, pointed beak), leatherback (1.8 m, black leathery shell with long ridges and white spots, no scutes). |
algae | toggle | on / off | false | Patches of green algae and a few barnacles on the shell: an old, slow turtle. |
seed | range | 1 to 30, step 1 | 5 | Seed for the shading of each shell plate and where algae grows; every number is a different turtle. |
size | range | 0.15 to 2.5, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale on top of the species size. 1 is an adult (1.1 m shell); 0.15 is a hatchling heading for the sea; 2.5 is a giant island-sized legend turtle. |
