Crab Bot
A knee-high six-legged robot crab, about 0.9 m across the legs, with a flat armoured carapace, two eye stalks and a pair of pincer arms whose claws snap open and shut as it walks forward on an alternating tripod gait. One claw can be oversized like a fiddler crab; the eyes and light bar glow at night.

Passed the validator: real scale, rests on y = 0, front faces +Z, deterministic, planted feet never slide past 1 mm.
Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/crab-bot.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
const crabBot = createAsset();
scene.add(crabBot); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
const gait = walker(crabBot, { ground: (x, z) => terrainHeight(x, z) }); // or omit ground for a flat floor
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
crabBot.position.z = dist;
gait.poseAt(dist); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber';
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/crab-bot.mjs';

export function CrabBot({ speed = 1 }) {
const model = useMemo(() => createAsset(), []);
const gait = useMemo(() => walker(model), [model]);

}# Import crab-bot.glb (download below). It carries an in-place "Walk" animation.
@onready var anim: AnimationPlayer = $CrabBot/AnimationPlayer
func _physics_process(delta):
velocity = transform.basis.z * speed
move_and_slide()
anim.play("Walk")
anim.speed_scale = speed / 0.4 # Walk clip covers 0.4 m/s at 1x// Import crab-bot.glb with glTFast (com.unity.cloud.gltfast).
animator.Play("Walk");
animator.speed = speed / 0.4 // Walk clip covers 0.4 m/s at 1xUse the gaitkit MCP server: get_variant({ "id": "crab-bot", "want": "default look" })
then place the result and walk it with walker() so the feet stay planted.

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
colorway | choice | rust steel sand abyss | rust | Shell colours: rust (red-orange like a real crab, amber eyes), steel (grey, cyan eyes), sand (beige beach bot), abyss (deep-sea navy, teal eyes). |
legLength | range | 0.8 to 1.3, step 0.05 | 1 | Scales the legs. Low = squat scuttler hugging the ground, high = tall spindly spider-crab. |
claws | range | 0.6 to 1.6, step 0.05 | 1 | Size of the pincers. 0.6 is a pair of small pickers, 1.6 heavy crushing claws. |
fiddler | toggle | on / off | false | Makes the right claw oversized and the left one small, like a fiddler crab. |
back | choice | none mast crate | mast | What rides on the carapace: nothing, a sensor mast with a radar dish, or a strapped salvage crate. |
Presets: beach scuttler {"colorway":"sand","legLength":0.85,"back":"none"} · salvage crab {"colorway":"steel","claws":1.5,"back":"crate"} · deep fiddler {"colorway":"abyss","fiddler":true,"legLength":1.2}
