Star Walker
A pony-sized radial creature, about 2.6 m across and 1.2 m tall: a spiny domed body with five long legs spread evenly around it and a ring of five eyes, so it has no front and walks any way it likes (it travels +Z). Glowing eyes and spots at night.

Use it
Code for the specimen as it is set up above; it follows your knobs.
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/star-walker.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
const starWalker = createAsset();
scene.add(starWalker); // rests on y = 0, front faces +Z
const gait = walker(starWalker, { ground: (x, z) => terrainHeight(x, z) }); // or omit ground for a flat floor
let dist = 0;
renderer.setAnimationLoop(() => {
dist += speed * clock.getDelta();
starWalker.position.z = dist;
gait.poseAt(dist); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
renderer.render(scene, camera);
});import { useMemo, useRef } from 'react';
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber';
import { createAsset } from 'https://gaitkit.com/cdn/star-walker.mjs';
import { walker } from 'https://gaitkit.com/runtime/walk.mjs';
export function StarWalker({ speed = 1 }) {
const model = useMemo(() => createAsset(), []);
const gait = useMemo(() => walker(model), [model]);
const dist = useRef(0);
useFrame((_, dt) => {
dist.current += speed * dt;
model.position.z = dist.current;
gait.poseAt(dist.current); // feet stay planted, at any frame rate
});
return <primitive object={model} />;
}# Import star-walker.glb (download below). It carries an in-place "Walk" animation.
@onready var anim: AnimationPlayer = $StarWalker/AnimationPlayer
func _physics_process(delta):
velocity = transform.basis.z * speed
move_and_slide()
anim.play("Walk")
anim.speed_scale = speed / 1.05 # Walk clip covers 1.05 m/s at 1x// Import star-walker.glb with glTFast (com.unity.cloud.gltfast).
animator.Play("Walk");
animator.speed = speed / 1.05 // Walk clip covers 1.05 m/s at 1xUse the gaitkit MCP server: get_variant({ "id": "star-walker", "want": "default look" })
then place the result and walk it with walker() so the feet stay planted.

| Knob | Type | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
colorway | choice | reef abyss sand venom | reef | Palette: reef (warm orange starfish with purple spines), abyss (deep-sea navy with glowing cyan spots), sand (camouflaged tan and brown), venom (violet with acid-green spines and spots: clearly poisonous). |
legLength | range | 0.75 to 1.4, step 0.05 | 1 | Scales the five legs, the ride height and the stride. 0.75 = low, crab-like crawler; 1.4 = tall, spidery stilt walker. |
spines | toggle | on / off | true | Spines on the dome, the leg roots and along each upper leg. Off = a smooth, softer-looking creature with only its spots. |
size | range | 0.4 to 2.5, step 0.05 | 1 | Uniform scale. 1 is about 2.6 m across the feet (pony-sized); 0.4 is dog-sized; 2.5 is a 6.5 m giant. |
